the基本用法：
1.特指某（些）人或某（些）事物.Give me the book.Did you hear the talk given by Mr Li?How do you like the film.Have you got the letter?
2.指谈话双方都知道的人或事物.Where is the teacher?Open the door.

5.用在方位名词前 in the south,in the west ,in the north

这里前文应该没有出现town 也不存在强调 所以不需要加the
就像go to school一样，不强调是哪所学校，哪个镇子，所以不用加the
可加the 也可不加，如果不加就是泛指，意思说进城了，不特指哪一个城市；如果加上，则特指某个城市。
the 是特指，如果在文章中是第一次提到的话，不用the，如果不是第一次提到的话，就用the
不加“the”意思是：昨天她进城了，如果加“the”，就表示强调“她昨天去城里了。”就像“go to school”是去上学，而“go to the school”则是去学校的意思。英语中有些词中加“the”或不加有不同的含义。
