The Dragon Boat Festival, which is celebrated on August 15th in Chinese lunar calendar is one of the most important traditional Chinese Festivals. It is celebrated to honor the great ancient poet Qu Yuan. As is said, when Qu Yuan threw himself into the Miluo River people rushed to rescue him by boat. That is why people compete in Dragon Boat races today. On this day people also eat zongzi which ancient people threw into the river where Qu Yuan died to prevent fish from eating the body of Qu Yuan. Today we use these activities to remember this great hero and to enjoy ourselves.
the dragon boat festival is a traditional chinese festival. many people celebrate this festival. also there is a day off for most of people. during the day, it is a common practice for people to eat a kind of food, which is called "zhongzi" in chinese as a souvenir for a very famous ancient great man, whose name is "Quyuan".
