　　it 是指代时间的非人称代词,意思是直译是‘自从我大学毕业以来,时间已经过了三年’.

如果用 before,可以说——

it had been 3 years before I graduated from the university,

　　但是意思成了“三年过去了,我才大学毕业（直译是‘在我大学毕业以前,时间已经过了三面’）”.

用 since,过去的“毕业时间” 早于 “三年过去”；用 before,“三年过去” 早于过去的“毕业时间”.
