一、为了说明这三个短语的意思,先得从将来时态说起.
六大类表示将来的办法：
1. will/shall —— 表示可能性的将来,如：
I shall leave for Shanghai. 我有可能去上海.
He will tell me all about it. 他有可能把一切都告诉我.

2. be going to —— 表示主观在将来的打算或主观对客观的判断
I am going to visit the expo this week. 我打算本州参观世博会.

3. 一般现在时 —— 表示不会改变的将来

Tomorrow is Tuesday. 明天是星期二.
4. 现在进行时 —— 表示正在着手准备的将来

5. be to —— 表示约定好的将来
The meeting is to be held this afternoon. 会议定于今天下午召开.

* be about to 等 ——正打算/差不多
The job is about done. 工作差不多要完成了.

二、几个短语的区别、
1. be about to 相当于时态助词,后面只能跟动词原形,表示将来.
2. on the point of 中的 of 是介词,后面跟名词或者动名词,表达的意思与 on the point to, 但是不含将来的意思,不能与谓语动连用作时态助词,只能用作时间状语,如：
