2.关键在于本句是个变形的there be句型.此处必须填入能做谓语的动词.
而如果选A的话,单独的现在分词flowing是不能做谓语的.
给楼主举个类似的there be变形句型：
eg.There lived a tiger in the forest.在森林里住着一只老虎.
3.另外,此处的flowed并不表什么被动,而是谓语动词flow的过去式(因为句子是一般过去时)而已.
4.如果表示主动而用现在分词,该句可以改写成：
There was a rapid river flowing between the two hills.
句子谓语还是was,而flowing between the two hills只是做后置定语修饰a rapid river.
